Home remedies for gingivitis
Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums and is a reversible disease. It is not usually painful, but if it is not treated in time it can lead to more serious conditions. Gingivitis may appear at puberty, due to hormonal changes and may recur if there is no proper hygiene.
Inflamed gums are also a sign that our diet is not entirely adequate, avoid foods such as sugars, milk and its derivatives and bread, these will overload your intestine with toxins and bring more acidity to your blood.
The main goal in the treatment for gingivitis is to de- inflame the gums.
Warm water and salt: prepare a mixture with a teaspoon of salt and a glass of warm water and use it as a mouthwash. Salt is an excellent antibacterial, which will prevent the multiplication of microorganisms.
Infusion of anise: another preparation that works as a mouthwash is the infusion of anise. Place a teaspoon of anise, one of mint and one of rosemary, put them to boil in 3/4 cup of water for ten minutes and strain it. You can use it every hour.
Baking soda: baking soda helps clean and reduce inflammation of the gums. Mix equal parts of baking soda and oxygenated water and swish this preparation without swallowing. Do not abuse this mixture, as it can become corrosive.
Salvia gargle: in a cup of boiling water pour a handful of sage leaves, let cool a few minutes and gargle or swish with this infusion. That has healing and bactericidal properties that will help to reduce inflammation of your gums.
Echinacea: in addition to being a natural antibiotic, Echinacea facilitates the healing of wounds and inflammation, caused by gingivitis. Boil a cup of water for 5 minutes and place a spoonful of Echinacea, you can swish this infusion three times a day for two weeks.
Lemon: mix the juice of a lemon in a cup of warm water. The lemon will help the desinflammation, besides acting as an antiseptic. Use it as a mouthwash.
Thyme: Place two tablespoons of thyme in a cup of boiling water, let cool the bacteria that cause gingivitis
Poor oral hygiene is the main cause of gingivitis, but it is also true that if our diet is not completely healthy, we will be more prone to suffer from this ailment, then we recommend some foods to prevent gingivitis.
- The apples are useful to maintain our oral hygiene can eat a quarter of this fruit after the meal. But fruits in general will be a good ally in your diet.
- Prefers foods and fruits rich in vitamin C or consumes a supplement.
- Cereals such as rice, quinoa and oats.
